By 2015, shelf natural gas will be supplied not only in Crimea, but also in other southern regions of Ukraine, acting first deputy head of the Chernomorneftegas board Oleh Hryn told a round table, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, in three years, our country will surpass Romania in the production of gas in the Black Sea. By 2015, Ukraine will produce 3.2 billion m3, and Romania - only 2.5 billion m3. Turkish production volumes will remain small (0.3 billion m3), and the Bulgaria ones will even fall in (from the current 0.4 – to 0.2 billion m3).

In this regard, the energy market expert Dmytro Marunich notes that according this optimistic scenario, by 2035 Ukraine could reduce the annual consumption of natural gas to 49.5 billion m3 and increase domestic production to the similar levels (in 2011 - 20.1 billion m3). This is possible due to offshore reserves and non-traditional sources, such as coal seam gas or shale gas. "Doing so, our country can completely or almost completely deny its gas imports from Russia," the expert said.
