Commander of the International Security Assistance Force in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan general John Allen commended the work of the Ukrainian peacekeepers, especially in the province of Ghor, he said during a meeting with the defense minister of Ukraine Dmytro Salamatin.

In addition, the general informed on the prospects of the international forces in the country, in particular, he noted that by mid-2014, the ISAF must transform into "force presence", two thirds of which will consist of soldiers of the Armed Forces of the United States, and others - from other members of the NATO. The task of these forces in the period from January 1, 2015 till January 1, 2024 is the training of Afghan forces.

Salamatin noted that Ukraine will take part in the new mission of "force presence". Possible cooperation in this regard, he called participation of the Ukrainian personnel in service of helicopters, demining and maintenance of armored vehicles.

Delegation of the Defence Ministry went to the city of Chahcharan and visited the Ukrainian peacekeepers in the Lithuanian group of Ghor province.
