Ukraine is interested in dynamic and smooth development of trade and economic relations with Russia, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said at the meeting with President of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russia) Rustam Minnikhanov, the Cabinet’s press service informs.

"In last year, the trade with Russia reached a record $62 billion, increasing by 40%, if compare to 2010. This trend is difficult to maintain, but we would like our relations to develop on the rise, that there are no barriers. It is our position of principle," Azarov said.

However, the Prime Minister noted that the introduction of the free trade area within the CIS will fundamentally improve the implementation of various cooperation projects in Ukraine and Russia. According to the PM, cooperation in the field of aviation is highly promising, including a joint serial production of an AN-70 at the Gorbunov Kazan Production Association.

The parties also discussed the introduction of vehicles recycling tax by Russia, affecting the cars produced in Ukraine. "As for the recycling tax we suggested to sign an agreement to abolish the fee or apply a mutual non-use, for us not to impose the appropriate compensation mechanisms," Azarov said.
