By suit of the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation that oblige Ukraine’s government to pay Russia 3.239.450.000 UAH in the case of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine corporation, Russia shows its strong position and can afford to increase the pressure, director of the Center for Civil Society Vitaly Kulyk told ForUm.
He reminded that the last time, in autumn of 2011, this issue was raised by the initiative of Ukraine, as one of the accusations against Tymoshenko.
"And now, Moscow decides to use it to its advantage, as this is the additional asset in the dialogue with Kyiv, and the sum is not small," the expert said.
According to Kulyk, Kremlin remains an influential force for the Ukrainian side.
The expert also stressed that own interests can and should be advanced using all possible ways.
