The Swiss Confederation will send observers to the parliamentary elections in Ukraine, to be held on October 28, 2012, the letter from the President of the Swiss Confederation Eveline Widmer- Schlumpf to President Viktor Yanukovych says, ForUm learned from the President’s press service.

"I share the fact that the protection of civil and political rights in the parliamentary election has special meaning for you. In connection with your invitation, the OSCE / ODIHR is to send its observers to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Ukraine," the letter says.

Widmer- Schlumpf noted that next year Ukraine as the presiding country and Switzerland, which will chair after, will form the OSCE trio. "Therefore, we would like to continue developing relations between Ukraine and Switzerland in the political, economic and cultural fields, which will be also favored by close cooperation within the OSCE," the letter from the President of the Swiss Confederation says.
