The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decided today not to work in plenary session.
265 deputies out of 299 registered in the session hall voted for the decision to amend the schedule of the Parliament.

According to the decision, MPs will work in committees to prepare bills.

This decision caused outrage among the opposition members. In particular, the BYT-Fatherland deputy Serhiy Sas said that the Parliament deprives MPs of opportunity to hear tomorrow the government report on the economic situation in Ukraine and education minister Dmytro Tabachnyk.
In turn, speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn noted that the Parliament cannot work in such a mode, when the majority of opposition members do not participate in the plenary sessions. Besides, he added, most bills, proposed by the government and MPs, have been discussed today. He was supported by the leader of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov, who noted that Tabachnyk can report the next plenary week.

The next plenary meeting will be held on September 18.
