The bill on the organization and conduct of peaceful assemblies has been approved by all social classes, chairman of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov told a briefing in the Verkhovna Rada, ForUm correspondent reports.
"I was told that the bill had been approved by all social classes and had not provoked complaints. The people who worked this document out, assured me it is really so. I think it will be so indeed," the PR MP said.
According to him, the bill should be passed simultaneously with the bill on amendments to some legislative acts on freedom of peaceful assemblies (by the PR member Yuri Miroshnichenko. - Ed.).
Yefremov also said that the experts will still finalize the draft bills in the next two weeks.
On September 3, MP Olesya Orobets spread information that on September 6, the Parliament will consider and will probably pass the law on the organization and conduct of peaceful assemblies. The experts believe it has several weak points, namely: notifying authorities of the peaceful assembly at least two working days prior to the peaceful assembly; the inexhaustible list of places, where peaceful assemblies are banned; the imperative duty to notify of the date, time, location, purpose of spontaneous peaceful assembly and the measures to be taken to ensure the implementation of a spontaneous peaceful assembly. Such requirements are believed to contradict the essence of a spontaneous peaceful assembly.
