Kharkiv authorities will ask the Cabinet to provide financial assistance to address the consequences of the explosion in the apartment building, Kharkiv mayor Hennadiy Kernes said at the meeting of the commission on technogenic and ecological security and emergencies, ForUm learned from the Kharkiv City Council press service.

"Until tomorrow, we will assess the extent of damages, and address the Cabinet's request. Now we will specify the cost of restoration. The works have been started at the contractors’ cost, but we will have to repay these costs in the future," the mayor said.

In addition, the press service stressed that 23 families out of the affected house now live in hotels at the city budget cost.
