Along with successes, the agricultural sector of Ukraine has a number of problems, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said at the opening of the XXIV International Agricultural Exhibition "Agro-2012," ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, the main problem is a slow progress in reforms. "Formation of the market for agricultural land should become a key component of the agricultural reform. I want to emphasize that the purpose of agricultural reform is to create a transparent mechanism for land turnover on the basis of a single state cadastre. We will do everything to defend the interests and rights of farmers by this reform," the head of the state said.

The President stressed that another urgent problem is contempt of the farming and poor management of the lands. "Because of that, Ukraine has the degradation and depletion of lands. In addition, there is a number of problems in the food market. Thus, the main types of food consumption are below the actual necessary standards. In addition, Ukraine imports a lot of products that can be produced in Ukraine and then exported," he said adding that one of the main tasks of the agrarian reform is to create a vertically integrated food production of high-tech systems that will provide the market with domestic products with a high degree of processing.
