Ukraine is to ensure the holding of free and fair parliamentary elections, first vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky said during the meeting with President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski, held on September 4 in the Polish Krynica-Zdroj town.

The parties discussed the prospects for Ukraine’s European integration, preparations for the parliamentary elections, as well as cooperation between the two states in the economic and political fields.

The first vice Prime Minister expressed the hope that the parliamentary elections will positively influence the atmosphere of the relations between Ukraine and the EU, and will allow approaching to the Association Agreement signing.

Khoroshkovsky also took part in the panel discussion "Parliamentary Elections in Ukraine: European integration or Status Quo?" within the International Economic Forum.

He noted that in recent years Ukraine has consistently followed its policy of European integration. "We have done a great job on this path: we have initialed the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, including creating a deep and comprehensive free trade area, implemented more than 90% of the plan to liberalize the EU visa regime for Ukraine, joined the European Energy Community, adopted the  new Code of Criminal Procedure, etc. Holding of parliamentary elections in accordance with international standards will be another step towards the European integration," the first vice PM said.
