Yanukovych not to come to opening of sixth Parliament last session

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will not be present at the opening of the eleventh session of the Parliament of the sixth convocation, representative of the President in the Parliament Yuri Miroshnichenko told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The participation of the President of Ukraine in the opening of the eleventh session of the Parliament of the sixth convocation has not been planned. First, all the legislative initiatives, which the President considered a priority for consideration at this session, were formed in the respective letters and sent to the chairman of the Parliament Volodymyr Lytvyn. Second, Yanukovych announced his vision of the Ukrainian society development in his annual message to the Verkhovna Rada and during the speech on the Independence Day," Miroshnichenko said.

The representative of the President noted that the participation of the head of the state in the opening session of the Parliament is stipulated neither in the Constitution nor in the laws of Ukraine.
"In my opinion, the last session since the very opening day will be saddled with election propaganda and populism that often resembles a show. Nevertheless, I hope that we will avoid a situation when the legislative activity is replaced with pre-election populism and dirty PR," Miroshnichenko said.
