
Defense minister Dmytro Salamatin promises that the problem of housing for military men will be solved, he said during the opening ceremony of the renovated dorms of the National Defense University, ForUm correspondent reports.
In particular, he reminded that now 45 thousand military men are in queue for housing. "The problem has not been solved over the years, so we cannot find the immediate solution. In addition, the economic crisis worsens the current situation," he said.
According to Salamatin, the Defense Ministry carried out a total audit of all finances and now is working to improve the social status and social protection of military men and their families. "We will do everything to ensure the maximum number of housing put in operation annually. We have big plans for the next year," he said, adding that the current situation of providing servicemen with housing is shameful.
