During June-July of this year, children committed 2858 crimes, head of criminal police for children of the Internal Ministry of Ukraine Oleksiy Lazarenko told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reported.
In particular, according to him, 2188 children at the age from 14 to 18 became involved in crimes. 225 crimes out of the total number were committed by the children under the influence of alcohol. "70% of the crimes committed by children were thefts of private property," Lazarenko noted.
"From the beginning of the year, 121 criminal cases have been initiated on children inclusion to alcohol abuse, 45 of them were initiated during June-July of this year," he informed.
Lazarenko urged all entrepreneurs selling alcoholic beverages to be careful with staff recruitment and to ensure that alcohol is not sold to minors.
