Policemen tell what crimes affect children mostly

The Internal Ministry is concerned about the number of children who are the victims of sexual violence, head of the Internal Ministry Department of criminal police for children affairs Oleksiy Lazarenko told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, in June-July this year, almost 10% of Ukrainian children were the victims of sexual violence. "It is very difficult to prevent against this type of crime, because it is latent. Interior Ministry would like to appeal to parents and encourage them to be selective with the people whom they leave their children alone with," he said.

Lazarenko also reported that the most common crimes that affect children are theft, robbery and fraud. "More than 50% of children were affected by those crimes in June-June," he said.
In addition, according to Lazarenko, more than 50% of children were affected by the road accident.
