Yanukovych: Modernization of enterprises shouldn’t affect employees
The interests and rights of the workers should not be hurt in the process of modernization of the Ukrainian enterprises in any case,  President Viktor Yanukovych said during communication with the staff of the "Donetskstal" - Steel Works", ForUm learned from the President’s press office.

Familiarizing with the reconstruction of the melting shop, Yanukovych asked about the current employment situation with workers who worked in the shop before open-hearth furnace was stopped. "The break should not affect people. They should be employed and paid wages not lower than they were getting before," he said.

In today's competitive environment, Yanukovych said, modernization of production, of course, is a necessary step - in fact it will make possible to increase the profitability of the company, its financial results - and, accordingly, to ensure the growth of wages of workers.

The President said that the upgrade of production must be of high quality and pass in tight deadlines.

General manager of the plant Oleksandr Ryzhenkov assured the President that now all the employees of the shop have work (in particular, they are directly involved in its reconstruction), their wages are not reduced and people also undergo retraining to work with the new equipment
