Ukraine needs its own large sea and river fleets as well as deep-water ports with the best conditions of cargo transshipment, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said at a session of the Cabinet of Ministers, the government website reported.

The ambitious plans of the state have the following requirements: to export more than 20 million tons of grain over time, millions of tons of artificial fertilizers and to receive 10 billion cubic meters of liquefied gas annually. We also have a unique transport potential of Dnieper and Danube, so it is logical and beneficial to carry all necessary products for our business partners and for Ukraine by own vessels.

However, the Prime Minister stressed that it takes "decades of hard work and we should not lose none a day."

Azarov also stressed that the preferences which the government provided with shipbuilding have to be analyzed in particular tax bonuses in order to "increase motivations for the industry."
