This year, Ukraine has managed to save 12 billion cubic meters of imported gas, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said during the government’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reported.
According to him, the replacement of gas with coal is advanced due to the reducing of the imported gas consumption. "From the beginning of this year compared with the same period of the last year, our economy has reduced the gas consumption almost by 3 billion cubic meters, and from the beginning of the year, Ukraine has imported nearly 12 billion cubic meters of gas less," the Prime Minister said.
He explained that all this gas has been replaced by domestic as well as coal.
In addition, Azarov added that Ukraine intends to continue the modernization of power units to transfer them from gas to coal water fuel.
