Ukraine has no wage arrears to teachers, education minister Dmytro Tabachnyk said at the meeting of the Board of the Education and Science, Youth and Sports Ministry of Ukraine, ForUm correspondent reports. The meeting was dedicated to the state of readiness of educational institutions to 2012/2013 school year and the introduction of new standards for primary education.
"As of todate, we do not have delay in payment of teachers' wages. Local budgets should worry about it," Tabachnyk said.
According to him, the Education Ministry will monitor this process.
"I know that the Chernihiv Regional State Administration is actively working with the Finance Ministry, but I have never heard about the application of the local council of any region (the Lviv city council said that their budget has funds for teachers' wages only for two months - Ed.,). I think that this year, the new school year will not avoid politicization. In this case, the local councils have to worry about the payment of wages," the education minister summed up.
