This fall, 18.900 young men will be called up to serve in the Ukrainian army. This is almost eight thousands less than in the fall 2011.
As the Defence Ministry press service informed, the call-up procedure will be changed this time due to holding of election - new recruits will be called up in two stages.
The first stage will be held on October 5-12, the second stage - on November 1-23.
"The majority of recruits wants to serve in the airborne forces and the marine," the press service of the Ministry informed. The decline in the number of soldiers is explained by the fact that at the means allocated from state budget the Ministry prefers to buy new equipment - armored vehicles and ships.
