After getting its independence, Ukraine has gone the wrong way putting the state above a person, education and science, youth and sports minister Dmytro Tabachnyk said on the air of the 5 channel.
"In the early years of its independence the Ukrainian state went the wrong way. The state has being built with the priorities of nation-building, imposition of the same stereotypes in behavior, mentality, approach to history, ideology. The people themselves have been of secondary importance. This practice has failed and that is why people have felt the same way as in the USSR, there was coercion," he said.
