First deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, the Communist Party member Adam Martyniuk said that the only positive moment for 21 years of independence is the emergence of the new state of Ukraine, he told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The positive point is that the independent country Ukraine appeared at the map of the world," he said.

At the same time Martyniuk said that during the entire period of independence Ukraine have not managed to reach economic or social performance of 1990-year- level.

"There are also many problems in social area. If the demographic situation does not improve, then there will be no Ukrainians in Ukraine after 130 years," the first vice speaker said.

He explains such situation by changing socio-political system in 1991, as well as the fact that such a change was not supported and is not supported now by the vast majority of citizens.

Martyniuk said that according to the surveys conducted in the past year, only 8.7% of citizens want Ukraine to develop as the capitalist state.

At the same time Martyniuk said that part of the blame in this situation lies on the Communists. "The blame of the Communists is that we gave the power in democratic and humane way, because people wanted something another, but now we do not have enough strength to convince the public that we need to live differently," he concluded.
