In Ukraine, for the last six months, the GDP increased by 2%, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said at a meeting of the Cabinet, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The previous assessment of Ukraine's GDP for January-July showed the growth by 2%. This is not bad figure due to the crisis in the euro zone. But this is obviously not enough for significantly improvement of the living standards in Ukraine," Azarov said.

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in July compared with June, the industrial production grew by 3%.

"The GDP growth occurred mainly due to mining industry and electricity production. However, the problems appeared in metallurgy and machine building industries. I pay attention of the heads of relevant departments to this situation and instruct them to propose measures to support these industries immediately," he said.
