A model of port sector reforms through the concession agreements will bring benefit to the state and business. This model is widely used in Europe, particularly in Belgium, consultant of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants Kyrylo Pelekh said commenting on the discussion of the mechanism of port concessions with prospective investors held last week in the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine.
"The mechanism for reform based on the European system has been chosen correctly. We saw the models of the Belgian ports and the results obtained in Belgium. There is income from shipping business there, while at the same time, there is a large income from the dock-side cluster. So, the attraction of private capital develops the port zone and forms the additional cash flow," Kyrylo Pelekh said.
The expert noted the protection of rights of the state ownership on port facilities as the advantage of concession.

The company experts are included into the working group of the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine on the organizational and technical preparation of the Strategy of Ukrainian sea ports development.
