Ukraine is proud of its Olympic team, which should set an example for young people, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said today during the awarding honorary diplomas of the Cabinet of Ministers to the champions and winners of the XXX Summer Olympic Games.

"We are proud of our athletes. Believe me, we sincerely worried about you, and I want to wish you a real sporting success, sporting longevity. I beg you that you pay attention to mass sports. You must set an example for our children. The schools of Olympic reserve will be set up for you to teach there," Azarov said.

"We will make conclusions on the outcome of the Olympic Games and evaluate the positives and negatives," the PM said.

Azarov stressed that Ukraine performed well at the Olympics in London. He added that to achieve better results in future, the government will pay great attention to modernization of the Olympic infrastructure and the development of mass sports.

According to the Prime Minister, a new field and track arena for Olympians will be constructed in Kyiv in 2013. "To achieve high-Olympic results, our sportsmen need to have not only athletic performance, but also a serious scientific training, medical training and the appropriate material and technical basis. Our Olympic training centers are in serious need for modernization, and this will be done. In the coming year we will begin to modernize and create all conditions for our athletes," the Prime Minister concluded.
