During today’s session, the Dnipropetrovsk regional council decided to implement the law "On principles of state language policy" in the region.

109 MPs out of 117 registered voted in favor of this decision (in total, there are 120 deputies in the council).

The regional council recommends village and town councils to consider this issue and decide on the use of regional languages in their work, office administration and documentation.

In addition, the regional council recommends local governments to implement Russian when naming units and inscriptions on the seals, stamps, official forms and signs along with the state language.

However, the decision has not identified sources of funding for its implementation.

During the session, about 50 law opponents were picketing the building of the council.
