It is very important for Ukraine to hold democratic parliamentary elections, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Lytvyn said at a meeting with former President of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski and former President of the European Parliament Pat Cox, the press service of the Parliament reports.

According to the head of the Parliament, it is necessary to hold a serious discussion among the government, opposition and civil society on further ways of the country’s development. We must reject the "class principle: those who are not with us stand against us," the mutual fight, because such attitude is dangerous for the country. All complex issues of politics, according to Lytvyn, should be solved only through dialogue and compromise. "Dialogue in the pre-election period is difficult, but it is necessary," the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed.

Lytvyn also noted that Ukraine is interested in the success of the mission, which Kwasniewski and Cox are now carrying out, expressing the hope that it will "clear up the relations between Ukraine and the EU."

In turn, Kwasniewski and Cox also expressed a hope that their visit to Ukraine will contribute to the improvement of relations between Ukraine and the EU and supported the position of the Parliament’s chairman on the importance of dialogue and solution of all complex issues by political and legal means.
