The Supreme Court of Ukraine for civil and criminal cases has started a report on cassation appeal against the sentence of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, namely seven years of imprisonment for abuse of power in the conclusion of gas contracts with Russia in 2009.

MP of the Verkhovna Rada (the "BUT-Batkivshchyna" fraction), former defender on Tymoshenko's gas case Serhiy Vlasenko declared earlier he was sure the hearings would be postponed to yet another day.

However, after none of the parties had announced on challenge, the presiding judge Stanislav Mishchenko let one of his colleagues from the judicial panel to make a report of the case files.
