President of the National Olympic Committee Serhiy Bubka is satisfied with the results our athletes showed at the Olympics in London, ForUm learned from the NOC press service.
"These Games were really difficult for us. The competition was very high and tight. I am pleased with the performance of our athletes who represented Ukraine very well in these conditions. 20 medals is a decent number. By the way, the same result we had at the world championships, in pre-Olympic program 2011. 14th place at the Olympic Games out of 204 member countries is another confirmation that we are among the powerful sporting nations," the President of the NOC said.
Bubka also said that the President of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge congratulated Ukraine on the achievements at the London Olympics.
"The strongest athletes of the world compete at the Olympics. It is difficult to predict and expect something. There are different surprises - both positive and negative. In addition to the awards received, ten times athletes stayed one step away from the Olympic podium. This demonstrates the significant potential of the Ukrainian athletes," Bubka added.
