The structure of state order for education should correspond to the needs of economy, deputy Prime Minister, minister of social policy Serhiy Tihipko said commenting on the draft law "On the formation and execution of state order for training of specialists, academic staff and regular workers, upgrading and retraining of staff," developed by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, his press service reports.

The draft law, in particular, provides for the formation of medium-term forecast of demand for specialists of different professions and drafting of the government order on its base.

The vice Prime Minister said that the introduction of medium-term forecast does not rule out the reductions in training of specialists and academic staff under the state order. According to the deputy Prime Minister, a number of specialists studying on the state order will amount not less than 51% of a total number of students. Therefore, the bill does not provide for any reductions in quantitative guarantees of the state orders.

"Ukraine has always been considered as a country with the most educated population. This is one of our competitive advantages, and it should be retained. But at the same time, taxpayers' money should be spent on the preparation of specialists. In recent years, our universities have released a large army of lawyers and economists who cannot find a job now. Therefore, the formation of state order based on the forecast demands of the economy for specialists is an urgent need," Tihipko said.
