Ukraine needs to invest in the development of sport, deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Tihipko said at a welcoming ceremony of the Ukrainian Olympic team at the Boryspil airport, ForUm correspondent reports.
"We clearly know that this is only the beginning. We need to invest more in great sport achievements to have mass sport development in Ukraine," Tihipko said.
He congratulated the Olympians and stressed that their achievements had welded the Ukrainian nation.
"During last two weeks, the whole country watched your achievements, was gratified by your success and worried about each Ukrainian athlete. You are the heroes of Ukraine!" deputy Prime Minister said.
Meanwhile, Dmytro Tabachnyk noted that all our 245 Olympians are the pride of the country and nation. "You presented all 46.5 million citizens of Ukraine at the Olympics."
Meanwhile, the representatives of the Olympic fan movement danced hopak (Ukrainian national dance) for athletes at the welcoming ceremony.
