Deputy head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valery Prokhorenko states that the NBU boosts the law-making activity in order to improve banking legislation.

"The National Bank has been returned the right to perform law-making activity. From now on, the NBU takes active part in improvement of the banking legislation," Prokhorenko said in an interview with "Bankir" magazine.

The official reminded that the parliament had recently passed in its first reading the draft bill on payment systems and development of cashless payments, worked out by the NBU. "We have also submitted a number of draft bills to strengthen the banking system and improve the managing process," the official added.

Moreover, Prokhorenko specified that the National Bank is now working on a draft bill regarding the creation of the single national system of payments, the improvement of cash turnover system and strengthening of creditors' rights.

As a reminder, a number of important laws were adopted last year on the initiative of the National Bank of Ukraine, including on bank owners, on consolidated control, on creditors' rights and on deposit guarantees.
