During the years of Ukrainian independence, 35 thousand children have been adopted, presidential envoy for children rights Yuri Pavlenko said at a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"In 2011, more than three thousand children were adopted including 2114 by Ukrainians. In 2012, 352 children have been already adopted," he informed.

According to Pavlenko, 44 adoptions were cancelled last year. "Of them, 15 adoptions referred to children under 6 years old. The reason was the child’s health. The main reason for the cancellation of adoption of children after 6 years old is bad relationships with adoptive parents," he said.

According to Pavlenko, annually no more than two cases of cancellation of adoption happen due to the domestic violence registered by social workers.
