The "Nuclear waste" picture directed by Ukrainian Myroslav Slaboshpitsky won the award of one of the oldest and the most influential world-class A film festivals. This is the first Ukrainian film in the history of the festival, winning The Leopard Future award.
The Leopard Future competition program of the 65th Locarno Film Festival included 28 shorts and short features of young independent filmmakers from Europe, Asia, Australia, Middle East, the U.S. and the UK. The picture of Myroslav Slaboshpitsky – the only picture from the CIS countries selected to this competitive program - received the award and a cash award of 5.000 Swiss francs.
