The number of the Internal Ministry investigators will increase by five-seven thousands, head of the Main Investigative Department of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine Vasyl Farinnik told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Previously, about 15 thousand investigators dealt with the investigation of criminal cases. Under the new Code of Criminal Procedure, the investigator will have the right to give instructions to operatives, and only he will have the right to decide on the materials collected. Accordingly, his duties will increase threefold-fourfold. Therefore, we need to increase the number of investigators from 15 to 20-22 thousand," he said.
In addition, Vasyl Farinnik said that the staff of the Interior Ministry will not increase. "We have conducted the reform not to increase the number of police officers. We will redistribute staff within the Interior Ministry. And a part of the police officers who were engaged in operational work will be transferred to the investigative divisions," he stressed.
