Two fires in Kherson region were localized, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said after a meeting of emergency operations center on the elimination of forest fire, which took place in Kherson region.
As the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers told ForUm, in particular, the Prime Minister said that he had listened to the report of officials of the Emergencies Ministry, the Interior Ministry and the Defense Ministry on measures to eliminate the fire.
"Services participated in the meeting of the emergency center have reported on the conducted work. As a result, two of these fires were localized. There are a sufficient number of people and equipment to cut fire from populated areas," Azarov said.
The Prime Minister informed that the area of one fire amounts to over 800 hectares, while the second is more than 400 hectares. According to him, now the activities of the emergency center are intended to prevent the spread of fires.
The Prime Minister also added that helicopters and fire aircraft would be involved in the fire elimination.
The Prime Minister demands to eliminate the fire completely tomorrow.
He stressed that secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Klyuyev was charged to control actions on the fire elimination.
