Forest fire broke out on August 9 at 10:20 a.m. in the Korsun forest in Kherson region and spread over the area of approximately 1.500 hectares, covering 350 hectares of forest.
As the Emergencies Ministry press service reports, the elimination of fire involved 391 people of personnel, 90 pieces of equipment, the Emergencies Ministry provided 315 people of personnel, 49 pieces of equipment, two fire crafts An 32P and two Mi-8 helicopters equipped with discharge of water.
The additional forces and resources from the Emergencies Ministry departments in Crimea, Zaporozhia and Mykolayiv regions were directed to the area of fire. Operational headquarters for combating fire was set up at the scene.
The internal minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko decided to send for the elimination of the disaster 300 officers of the interior troops from the military units of Mykolayiv and Kherson regions.
The Headquarters for combating fire was headed by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.
