Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said the government surely will protect the interests of farmers in raising purchasing prices for milk.

"Today we discussed the issue of raising purchasing prices for milk. We must solve this problem, and a lower threshold of milk prices will be raised," Azarov told a briefing in Sumy, ForUm learned from the Cabinet’s press office.

He said the government will develop mechanisms to facilitate the uniting of farmers in production and service cooperatives, which will deal, in particular, with quality control of milk, its deliveries to dairy plants.

"We will develop mechanisms that will allow our farmers to get a decent fee for their work," the PM concluded.
