The Constitutional Assembly will consider the possibility of introduction of the institute of elective judiciary, advisor to the President of Ukraine - head of the President’s Administration Main Office for Judicial System Affairs Andriy Portnov told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, the election of judges by the citizens is already functioning in some countries, including some U.S. states. At the same time, according to the advisor to the President, media often covers that the election of judges by people is even more criticized by the citizens themselves.

Speaking about the possibility of introducing such an institute in Ukraine, Portnov said that it will be possible only after amending the Constitution.

In addition, the advisor to the President emphasized that as of today Ukraine has not yet complied with the recommendations of the Council of Europe on the reform of the High Council of Justice, namely on the principle of formation of the Council. To conduct such a reform, it is necessary to amend the Constitution, Portnov said.
