President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych signed the laws endowing the citizens with the right to participate in trials through videoconferencing, advisor to the President of Ukraine - head of the President’s Administration Main Office for Judicial System Affairs Andriy Portnov told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to Portnov, these changes allow to introduce videoconferencing system in the consideration of civil, administrative and economic cases by the courts.

He stressed that after this law enters into force, the citizens wishing to participate in the trials on abovementioned groups of cases through videoconferencing system will be able to take advantage of this right.

Portnov said that to do this, such people will need to reach the nearest to their place of residence court, equipped with a videoconferencing system.

According to the advisor to the President, this innovation will save time and money of citizens, especially in case when a hearing is held in the court, located at a many hundreds of kilometers distance from a person.

He also stressed that currently 100% of the courts of appeals are already equipped with videoconferencing system, and during 2013 all the Ukrainians courts, without exception, will be equipped with such a system.
