President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has signed the law on state language policy, press office of the President informs.
The President also charged the Cabinet of Ministers with forming a working group of public activists, experts on education, science and art and leading specialists on language issues for further development of amendments to the legislation in order to improve the language policy in Ukraine.
The mentioned group is supposed to provide full development and functioning of the Ukrainian language in all spheres of public life on the territory of the state, as well as to provide free development and proper protection of all native languages of Ukrainian citizens in order to implement European standards in this sector.
President's instructions also include the development and adoption of state program on development and functioning of the Ukrainian language.
