Requirements for driver training and testing should be tightened, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said, opening the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.

In addition, the head of the government believes necessary to raise the criteria for accreditation of driving schools and provide for harsh penalties for insufficient level of driver training.

"I’ve visited one of the Kyiv driving schools recently. It provides European-level training, good conditions for the acquisition of practical skills of driving, but such conditions are not provided everywhere. Many driving schools underestimate the criteria for training, instructors often neglect basic mastery of practical driving skills, reduce the number of practical classes," Azarov said.

According to him, as a result, students spend a lot of money, but do not receive proper training.
