At the Paralympics, which will be held from August 29 to September 9 in London, 155 athletes will present Ukraine, the chairman of the State Service of Youth and Sports Ravil Safiullin said at a press conference, the press office of the state service informs.
"It will be a tough fight, as in 2008 our Paralympians showed an excellent fourth result having received 74 awards, so this year we should improve previous result," Safiullin said.
4200 athletes from 160 countries are expected to come to the Paralympic Games and compete for 503 sets of medals in 20 different sports.
The Ukrainian athletes will participate in 12 sports (rowing, volleyball sitting, judo, athletics, table tennis, weightlifting, swimming, shooting, archery, fencing on wheelchairs, cerebral palsy football, cycling (track, road).
As a reminder, in 2008 the representatives of Ukraine took part in 11 sports.
