Ukraine is interested in using Chinese coal gasification technologies as part of the project to substitute natural gas.
This statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov at the meeting with the vice president of the China Development Bank Li Jiping, ForUm learned from the Cabinet’s press office.
"For us the question of substitution of expensive imported gas with coal is a strategic issue. We are interested in the Chinese coal gasification and coal-water fuel technologies. Successful implementation of this project will allow talking about larger projects during the state visit of President of Ukraine to China, scheduled for November," Azarov said.
In turn, Li Jiping noted that the bank is ready to open a credit line of 3 billion 656 million dollars for the implementation of the Ukraine’s project of substitution of gas with coal.
"The specialists of our countries have already reached an agreement on cooperation in the framework of this project," he said, adding that he welcomes the provision of state guarantees for the loan.
