Today the court of Naples has failed to take final decision on the extradition of the former Major of the State Guard Mykola Melnychenko as during the trial he expressed his categorical objection to the forced return to Ukraine, explaining it would pose a threat to his life.
The lawyer of Major Melnychenko Mykola Nedilko explained that due to such a position of his client, in accordance with the Italian laws, it will be considered and decided upon by the Justice Ministry of Italy within 10 days.
As Nedilko noted, if the Italian Justice Ministry dismisses the request of Melnychenko, the court will extend its session.
If the request Melnichenko is taken into account and is satisfied, the court should release him from custody, the lawyer said.
