The main difference in the subway operation records in autumn and winter is reduction of an interval between the train movements, the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration with reference to the first deputy head of Kyiv Metro Valery Havrylenko reports.
"We have developed special measures to prepare the subway to the autumn-winter period. Firstly, it refers to changing of the subway operation records, so the metro trains will run more often. Secondly, it is a preparation of all microclimate systems for work during a heating season including warm air curtains, heating systems, etc. This is necessary to support the proper temperature level at stations, especially in open areas," he stressed.
The Kyiv metro has 50 stations on three lines with a total length of 65.2 km, 767 units of rolling stock including 762 passenger cars and 122 escalators. The staff numbers about eight thousand people. Daily the metro carries more than 1.7 million passengers.
