Officials of the State financial inspection in Zhytomyr regions have revealed facts of illegal payment of Chernobyl pensions at the total amount of one million hryvnias, press office of the inspection reports.
According to the report, the state officials discovered gaps between the number of registered Chernobyl victims and the amount of allocated pensions. In the course of investigation, the officials revealed a great amount of money was paid by false Chernobyl certificates.
The materials of the investigation were delivered to the Zhytomyr regional state administration for consideration. Basing on the materials, the investigative commission of the administration decided to deprive the status of Chernobyl victims of 71 people. The total sum of overpaid pensions exceeds one million hryvnias.
The prosecutor's office of the region has instituted seven criminal cases on forgery.
