The government will not allow the food price increase, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said during his working visit to Zaporizhya, the press service of the Cabinet reports.

According to him, due to the difficult weather conditions this year the total number of grain collected in Zaporizhya region will decrease by 800 thousand tons comparing to the last year. And in total, Ukraine will collect eight million tons less grain amid last year.

"Despite the fact that this year we will get a yield by eight million tons less than last year, we will have a food grain 1.5 times more than we need. In addition, we have prepared reserves, and now we have 1.5 million tons of grain in the Agrarian Fund and 0.5 million tons in the Reserve Fund, so we have extra two million tons of grain. This is a third of annual food grain requirements of the country. Why should we raise the price? We will prevent it explicitly. The food price including the price of bread, meat, milk and butter will be stable," Mykola Azarov stressed refuting statements on price increase of flour and bread.

The Prime Minister stressed that in contrast to 2003-2010 when Ukraine collected grain less than usual due to weather conditions, now we have sufficient stocks, which allow us to conduct a stable price policy.
