In Ukraine the road traffic accidents happen every 20 minutes, as a result the Ukrainians get injured and die, the deputy head of the State Traffic Patrol Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Volodymyr Reznikov told a briefing in the Cabinet, as ForUm correspondent reports.
"This year in Ukraine there have been 15.5 thousand traffic accidents with victims including 2.4 thousand killed people and more than 19 thousand injured. Every day at the average 11 people are killed at roads and 87 get injured," Reznikov said.
According to him, more than two thirds of those killed and injured are young people between 25 and 45 years old. "So the most active representatives of the working-age population are being killed and injured. A low discipline of road users is the main reason of the tragedies," Reznikov stressed.
Every fourth accident, according to him, happens due to the overspeeding, and every fifth happens due to the infraction of maneuvering regulations. "Most accidents occur because of the deliberate infraction of the road traffic regulations," Reznikov noted.
