Animal mortalities were registered in the village Komyshevatka of Prymorsky district of Zaporizhya region in the private farm.
Specialists consider a delivery of the causative agent with foods of animal origin by Russian tourists to be a possible source of infection.
"On July 31 the territory where ASF virus had been identified was put in a quarantine, roads were closed, an established working group went to Zaporizhya region to coordinate actions of elimination of the disease and prevent further spread of the causative agent of ASF to other regions of Ukraine," the statement said.
In addition, the Veterinary Services redistributed and delivered the sterilizing agents for operational procedures and allocated the necessary amount of napalm for the carcass cremations during the eradication of the disease.
The State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine also warns pig breeders against nutrition with food by-products or products bought at unauthorized markets. The officials also advise to limit the contact between home and wild animals.
