620.040 people expressed a desire to pursue higher education within the admission campaign 2012.

"The number of applications shows record-breaking figures. If last year there were 150 thousand applicants, this year this figure increased more than fourfold. Accordingly, almost five times increased the number of applications compared to last year," the deputy director of the higher education department of the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports Mykola Fomenko said.

"The introduction of electronic filing of applications significantly reduced the burden on admission boards and made the application process more convenient," he added.

According to him, the most active participants of the admission campaign 2012 become the applicants from Donetsk region (167.719 applications filed), Dnipropetrovsk region (156.380 applications filed), Kyiv (118.137 applications filed), Lviv region (113.481 applications filed) and Kharkiv region (92.450 applications filed).

"Top-5 higher educational institutions as for the number of applications filed for the entire period of the admission campaign remained unchanged. Most of all applications were received by the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University (45.467 applications), National Technical University of Ukraine "Kiev Polytechnic Institute" (41.071 applications), Ivan Franko Lviv National University (40.751 applications), National Aviation University (35.283 applications) and the National University "Lviv Polytechnic," Fomenko said.

According to the authorities, the lists of students recommended for enrollment will be made public at information walls of admission boards and on the websites of higher education institutions already on August 1, before the midday. Before August 25, the higher education institutions should provide information on enrollment of students who has entered into a learning contract.
